Mission Statement
So that we, though many, are one in the Body of Christ and individually caring members of one another, having spiritual gifts that differ according to the Grace given to us, let us use them to build up the Household of Faith by encouraging the saints in our midst and attracting those newcomers who may be seeking a church home in order to serve our Lord, and Savior, Jesus Christ, in fulfilling the Great Commission.
A History of the Senior Saints
Pinewood has always had a place for Senior Saints to live out their Christian faith.
As a group, the Senior Saints have always been known for "food, fun, and fellowship" with a purpose! Years ago, Pinewood's founding pastor, Rod Whited, explained, "We take Christ seriously, and ourselves less so. " Before Covid arrived, Senior Saints supported missionaries, staged programs at the church using local talent and offered excursions in the local community as well as overnight trips out of state.
Last year in a post-Covid world we staged four successful events. We brought in a Christian comedian in the fall, and we went to a local dinner theatre for a Christmas play. In the spring we brought in a talented musical performer that had everyone singing, and a historical re-enactor who made the local history come to life. In addition, we supported our missionaries to Ireland (The Jeffares), the Reformed University Fellowship (The McDaniel's), and the Northeast Florida Coalition of the Presbytery.
This year, we have even bigger plans as we will continue to support our missionaries, while staging several events at the church and also sponsoring some local state trips to St. Augustine and Winter Park, as well as a trip to an out of state conference in North Carolina. Please see below for more information about these exciting upcoming events!
